Today we replaced auto gate bottom bearing wheels for an Embassy. Actually we didn’t want to take this project as it was time consuming and required lots of resources. We better off doing other things and making more money.

During installation, we were told that they contacted around 20 autogate companies and all of them didn’t want to take the project. Many of them do autogate only. They do not have experience on repairing gates.

Residential Gate Repair Services

Seriously we didn’t expect the gate would be so heavy (estimate around 2 tons). Normally heavy gate will need at least 4 wheels. But this gate only has 2 wheels. The bigger the diameter of the wheel, the easier to roll. Typically we should use 5 or 6 inches wheels for heavy gate.

So what we actually did:
1. Fabricate 2 new auto gate wheels with galvanized steel
2. Fabricate 2 new shafts
3. Install 2 SKF high performance auto gate bearings for each wheel

Luckily the machinery workshop has the materials ready for making the new auto gate bearing wheels. The other thing is because the shaft and the autogate bearing are so fitted firmly, it allows the bearing to spin by itself. It is best for the bearing to roll on itself, but not on the shaft. These bearings are made in France which is super high quality.

After replacing the auto gate bearing wheels, we adjusted the autogate gear rack and make sure it is nicely fitted with the track.
